Anaesthesia

Anaesthesia

Our personalized approach

At Clinimedspa, Dr. Arbour offers general anesthesia, local anesthesia with sedation, and local anesthesia with the option of Pronox depending on the nature of the procedure.

The choice of anesthesia will be carefully discussed with you during your consultation to ensure a surgical experience tailored to your needs and comfort.

General anesthesia

General anesthesia is a medical technique that renders the patient completely unconscious and insensitive to pain during a surgical procedure, and at Clinimedspa, we administer anesthesia exclusively through intravenous methods.

This method allows for precise and personalized management of your sleep, using specialized pumps adjusted by our anesthesia team. A high-performance monitor continuously evaluates your level of consciousness to ensure an optimal depth of sleep, without going too deep. This approach ensures a gentle awakening, with a faster recovery in the recovery room.

Peace of Mind at Every Step

This type of anesthesia ensures that the patient remains deeply relaxed and completely insensitive to pain throughout the procedure, providing optimal comfort. While anesthesia prevents any pain during the procedure, it is normal to experience some discomfort or mild pain once the effect wears off. We will assist you with valuable advice to help manage these sensations after surgery.

Local anesthesia with sedation

Undergoing a surgical procedure with local anesthesia and sedation offers several benefits. We use the anesthetic only in the targeted area to make it numb, which ensures that the patient’s respiratory functions are unaffected and does not require respiratory assistance.

This approach also avoids any discomfort that may be caused by the laryngeal mask used during general anesthesia. It does not require a stay in the recovery room, allowing you to return home more quickly while being carefully monitored.

If you have concerns about general anesthesia, Dr. Arbour may offer you the option of local anesthesia with sedation.

For the comfort of the patient

Local anesthesia

What types of aesthetic surgeries can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation?

Nowadays, the use of local anesthesia with sedation is common for a wide range of aesthetic surgeries. We use it for procedures such as lower or upper blepharoplasty, gynecomastia correction, liposuction, breast augmentation, and sometimes lower abdominoplasty or a small breast lift/revision of breast lift.

Will I feel pain during a procedure under local anesthesia with sedation?

A procedure under local anesthesia with sedation helps minimize pain by adjusting the sedation at specific moments during the surgery. This reduces anxiety, alters the level of consciousness, decreases discomfort during the procedure, and promotes a relaxing effect for the patient.

Are we conscious during a procedure performed under sedation?
The patient will be in a state of semi-consciousness that also allows the surgeon to interact with them if needed during the procedure. In many cases, the patient will only have a partial memory of the intervention, as it produces a retrograde amnesia effect. From the patient’s perspective, the procedure may seem to have lasted only a few minutes.
Are there any side effects to sedation anesthesia?
Like any medical procedure, local anesthesia with sedation may have side effects. These symptoms are generally temporary and fade within hours after the procedure. Our team of professionals will discuss these risks with you before the procedure and take all necessary measures to minimize them.

Local anesthesia is a preferred method for less invasive procedures, such as scar revision, targeted liposuction, and some minor skin surgeries. It involves administering an anesthetic directly into the area to be treated, making it numb to pain without affecting the rest of the body. This approach allows the patient to stay awake and resume their activities quickly after the procedure.

In some cases, Pronox may be offered as an adjunct to enhance the patient’s comfort. This blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen helps reduce anxiety and provides a sense of relaxation throughout the procedure, without the need for heavier anesthesia. Furthermore, the use of Pronox means that patients do not need to be accompanied, making the management of their procedure easier.

With this flexible approach, Clinimedspa ensures that personalized care is provided, tailored to each procedure and patient, while minimizing recovery time and maximizing comfort.
