Rosacea

– What is rosacea?

Caused by skin sensitivity, rosacea is a microcirculation disorder that requires special care. It causes redness which is often combined with the presence of fine blood vessels visible in the cheeks, nose, and chin. The appearance of rosacea can be promoted by certain factors, such as cold weather or wine consumption.

— How to treat rosacea?

Vascular laser (Nd: YAG 1064 nm), intense pulsed light (IPL), or a combination of both treatments are used to reduce rosacea. The results are visible fairly quickly. Two to four treatments are usually needed, depending on the severity of the problem and the response to the treatment. There should be no recovery time, unless larger vessels are treated, in which case edema and bruising may appear for a few days. As rosacea is chronic, the treatment should be repeated once or twice a year to maintain the results.
